There is a kind of waiting that makes us miss the life already in front of us. We wait for a clear answer, a lighter season, a day when we feel ready. Meanwhile, the kettle boils. A neighbor waves. Someone leaves enough time in a conversation to ask how we really are.

Grace often meets us in these ordinary places. It does not always arrive as a turning point we can name. Sometimes it is the patience to begin a difficult conversation gently, or the relief of hearing, “You don’t have to explain everything today.” Sometimes it is simply noticing that we have been carrying more than we need to carry alone.

The ordinary can feel too small to matter. Yet a life is made of small things repeated: the way we speak to ourselves when we make a mistake, the attention we give another person, the choice to make room at the table. These are places where faith becomes something we can practice.

Perhaps today does not need to become an extraordinary day. Perhaps it needs only a little more attention. Look for one quiet kindness. Receive it without brushing it aside. Offer another, if you can. Let grace be as close as the next ordinary moment.
